winter style: 7 ways to wear a silk scarf with a jumper dress

winter style: 7 ways to wear a scarf with a jumper dress | arati devasher painted silk accessories, london

On days when I don’t know what to wear, I automatically reach for a jumper dress. This burgundy jumper dress from .Object with the fun frills on the cuffs is my current favourite. I’ve paired it with comfy but stylish wedge heel knee boots from M&S.

What makes the outfit stand out, however, is the way the Sunset Waters silk scarf can be styled with it in several different ways. This would be a great combination to wear to a winter wedding (or dare I say it so soon – a Valentine’s day date) yet it’s also appropriate to wear to work.

I made this one-of-a-kind pure silk scarf in a traditional Japanese tie-dye technique called Shibori. You’ll love this scarf because it’s a versatile pattern that can be combined with many different outfits. It’s available to purchase at aratidevasher.co.uk.

Do comment and let me know if you try any of these styles. I’d love to hear from you.

P.S. You might notice I’m wearing black tights in the photographs… that’s because I’m always cold. There is also a hidden thermal top under that elegant jumper dress, and the silk scarf adds warmth when worn close around the neck!

boho weddings blog feature: a custom made botanical wedding scarf

I am so excited that I can finally reveal the secret project I worked on a few months ago. My customised wedding scarf has been featured on the Boho Weddings website, and you can read the blog post, linked at the bottom of this post.

Like every scarf I make, this one is hand painted and the text is done by hand too, in gold paint. Click through the images and you’ll see the process behind the wearable art. The brief I was given by London Local Weddings for the photo shoot was ‘Botanical Industrial Wedding’ and the scarf features leaves in a deep green with metallic text, in keeping with their theme. For more details of this particular scarf, click here.

If you would like a custom scarf for your wedding, birthday, christening or any other special occasion, just email me or fill in this form and I’ll come up with a unique design just for you. summer style: navy blue for ladies day at ascot races

Ladies Day at Ascot is a day for extravagant hats and formal dress. Taking inspiration from the blue skies we hope to be blessed with on the day, here’s an outfit idea for that most special of outings. This could also be worn to a wedding as a guest or even by the mother of the bride (or groom).

how I made a bespoke silk scarf for a special birthday

Custom orders are my favourite scarves to make – they’re a challenge, but a welcome one. Making a customer’s dream come to life is supremely satisfying. I shared the process of making one such scarf in a guest blog post for the London Local Team, and you can read the full article at the London Local Team blog.
