How to wear grey without being boring

Grey seems to be the colour of the season but this Stella McCartney ‘sweatshirt’ is anything but bland. Pair with sleek accessories and a pop of colour at the neck and on the hand to complete the subtle elegance of the look

20 last-minute Mother’s Day gift ideas – just in time for Mothering Sunday

Thanking one’s mother for all she’s done for you over the years is always a good idea. It makes her feel cherished, and only strengthens the bond between mother and child even further.

If you’ve left it too late to buy a pressie, here are some ideas on the London Local blog (including details of all the products below) from the London Local Team makers, including a scarf from yours truly – a lovely square scarf in blue and yellow.

Effortlessly stylish: P— wearing his bespoke Sun, Sand and Sea silk tie

P—’s wife S—commissioned this geometric blue and yellow tie as a birthday present a couple of years ago. She’s sent me this photograph saying he loves it and wears it often – and I am glad to see he styles it so well with a grey shirt and trousers.

How to wear red with a statement necklace

Wear a statement necklace with red clothes, and it can be off-putting – you could end up looking like a pillar box with baubles on, after all… when chosen carefully, a red outfit can make a real style statement, and when its fire-engine shade is accentuated with pale shades and vibrant accessories, that bright red doesn’t seem so daunting after all. Caution: this style may invite fulsome compliments.

Effortlessly Stylish: T— wears his bespoke green paisley silk scarf

T— is from India, and he’s a dapper gent. He’s sent me this photograph wearing the green scarf I made him, as a casual alternative to a tie. Paired with a classic corduroy shirt and tweed jacket, he’s definitely effortlessly stylish.

Effortlessly Stylish: S— modeling her satin blue scarf from my Schooling Fish collection

S— is a good friend and also occasionally models for me, as you might have seen in my online shop and on instagram. She loves her satin fish scarf, and has styled it casually in this photograph, taken when out for a coffee with friends. I do love it when clients send me photographs.

How to wear bold stripes with accessories

Wondering how to wear monochrome stripes with accessories? Styling a statement necklace in a bold colour can make your outfit pop. Just add black accessories with one accent colour theme running through the rest. Don’t amp up the makeup, just let the clothes speak.

How to style a camel coat for a casual look

A camel coat seems to be the item that everyone wants this season, and styling them with casual jeans and a pristine white shirt can be both classic and boring. Amp up the style with a colourful statement necklace and pair with camel bag and shoes to keep the casual vibe going.

I do love it when bloggers pick up on silk puns like ‘seas of silk’, and Mathanki has written such a charming post to go with the quirky title. Read the full article at London is Open blog.
